1005 Series 25.4mm Pitch Rubber Surface Plastic Chain — Non-Slip Flat Top Chain for Food and Beverage Lines

The 1005 Series 25.4mm Pitch Rubber Surface Plastic Chain is a flat top chain with a rubberised top surface that increases grip between the chain and the product being conveyed. The chain is built on the standard 1005 1-inch pitch geometry, so it runs on any 1005 series sprocket without modification, but the top surface is over-moulded with a high-friction rubber layer that stops glass bottles, PET bottles, cans and cartons from sliding on inclines, in accumulation zones and through transfer points. The chain is moulded from POM (acetal) for the base and food-grade rubber for the top surface, making it suitable for direct food contact lines.

Raydafon manufactures the 1005 Series 25.4mm Pitch Rubber Surface Plastic Chain at the Hangzhou factory as an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer. Standard width is 82.6 mm; other widths can be produced to order. The chain is supplied in standard length runs and cut-to-length on request. Matching sprockets in the 1005 series with 19, 21 or 23 teeth are supplied from the same factory so the chain and sprocket interface is confirmed as a matched set.

What Is a 1005 Series Rubber Surface Plastic Chain?

A 1005 Series 25.4mm Pitch Rubber Surface Plastic Chain is a flat top conveyor chain that uses the standard 1005 series 1-inch pitch geometry with a rubberised top surface. The base chain is moulded from POM (acetal), which gives the chain its dimensional stability and low friction against the wear strip. The top surface is over-moulded with a food-grade rubber layer that sits above the plastic links and increases grip against the product being carried. This combination is used where the conveyor runs on an incline, where products accumulate under pressure, or where the product is slippery (glass bottles, PET bottles, aluminium cans) and a plain flat top chain would allow the product to slide or tip.

The 1005 series 25.4 mm pitch is the standard 1-inch pitch used across the plastic chain range. Because the pitch and link width are standard, the rubber surface 1005 chain runs on any 1005 series sprocket without modification. The rubber top layer does not affect the pin and link geometry, so chain length is calculated the same way as for a plain 1005 chain.

Where the 1005 Rubber Surface Chain Is Used

The 1005 Series 25.4mm Pitch Rubber Surface Plastic Chain is specified on six main conveyor functions inside the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and packaging industries. The functional roles below are the ones most often quoted on a Raydafon enquiry.

Single and Multi-Lane Conveying

Straight-run conveyor sections where one or more product lanes feed a filler, capper or labeller. The rubber surface keeps bottles and cans from drifting between guide rails.

Pressure-Free Accumulation

Accumulation zones where the product backs up against a stop. The rubber surface lets the chain continue to run underneath the stationary product without scratching the base of the bottle or can.

Incline and Decline Transport

Sloped conveyor sections where a plain flat top chain would allow the product to slide. The rubber surface increases the friction coefficient enough to carry the product up or down a slope.

Palletiser and Stacking Platforms

Feed and discharge sections on palletisers and stacking platforms where the case has to be positioned without slipping before it is picked up.

Packaging Machine Infeed / Outfeed

Transfer sections at the inlet or outlet of a packaging machine where the carton or bottle has to be handed off cleanly from one conveyor to the next.

Acceleration, Deceleration and Turning

Heavily loaded packages that need to speed up, slow down or turn on a slope where a non-slip surface is required to keep the package under control.

Section 04

Why Use a Rubber Surface Chain Instead of a Plain Flat Top Chain?

A plain flat top chain is cheaper, so the choice of a rubber surface 1005 chain is always driven by the conveyor layout. The five reasons below are the ones that most often justify the upgrade.

Non-Slip Grip on Inclines

The rubber surface increases the friction between chain and product, so bottles, cans and cartons stay in position on an incline where a plain chain would allow them to slide back down.

Product Protection During Accumulation

In an accumulation zone, the chain keeps running while the product is held stationary. The rubber surface is softer than a bare POM surface, so it does not scratch the base of the bottle or leave marks on the can.

Consistent Product Positioning

On multi-lane conveyors the rubber surface keeps the product in the same lane position from the infeed to the discharge, which reduces jams and stabilises the infeed to downstream equipment.

Reduced Noise on Transfer Points

The rubber layer absorbs part of the impact when the product drops onto the chain at a transfer point, so the conveyor runs quieter than a bare flat top chain.

Food Contact Compatibility

The base is POM (acetal) and the top surface is a food-grade rubber compound. Both materials are suitable for direct food contact lines and can be cleaned with standard CIP chemicals.

Drop-In Replacement for Existing 1005 Lines

The chain runs on the standard 1005 series sprocket with the standard 25.4 mm pitch. Where a line already uses 1005 series chain, upgrading to the rubber surface version does not require changing the sprocket or the conveyor frame.

1005 Series Chain Range — Standard Options

The 1005 series covers a wide range of flat top chain variants at the same 25.4 mm pitch, so the correct chain for a given line is defined by the top surface and the opening pattern, not the pitch. The table below lists the standard 1005 series options that Raydafon produces. Custom variants can be produced to a drawing or sample.

1005 Series Variant Pitch Top Surface Typical Use
1005 Standard Flat Top 25.4 mm Plain POM Straight-run conveying of stable products
1005 Rubber Surface 25.4 mm Food-grade rubber Incline, decline and non-slip conveying
1005 Dynamic Transition 25.4 mm Plain POM with transition edge Small-pitch transfer points and dynamic transfers
1005 Hollow Flat Top 25.4 mm Plain POM with hollow openings Drainage, airflow and light-weight conveying
1005 Straight Running 25.4 mm Plain or rubber Standard straight conveyor sections
1005 Side Flexing 25.4 mm Plain or rubber Curved conveyor sections and carousel lines

The rubber surface variant is supplied as a complete chain with the rubber top over-moulded. Replacement rubber inserts are available separately for maintenance. Raydafon also supplies matching 1005 series sprockets in 19T, 21T and 23T to complete the drive interface.

1005 Series Rubber Surface Plastic Chain — Buyer Questions

What is a 1005 Series Rubber Surface Plastic Chain used for?

The 1005 Series 25.4mm Pitch Rubber Surface Plastic Chain is used on conveyor lines where a plain flat top chain would allow the product to slide. Typical uses are incline and decline conveying, pressure-free accumulation, multi-lane bottle and can lines, palletiser feed sections and packaging machine infeed and outfeed.

What is the pitch and standard width of the 1005 chain?

The 1005 series chain pitch is 25.4 mm (1 inch). The standard chain width is 82.6 mm. Other widths can be produced to order when the conveyor layout requires a wider or narrower chain.

What material is the chain and the rubber top made of?

The base chain is moulded from POM (acetal), which provides dimensional stability and low friction against the wear strip. The top surface is a food-grade rubber layer that is over-moulded onto the plastic links. Both materials are suitable for food contact lines.

Does the rubber surface chain run on standard 1005 sprockets?

Yes. The rubber surface does not change the pitch or link geometry, so the chain runs on any 1005 series sprocket. Raydafon supplies matching 1005 sprockets in 19T, 21T and 23T as a matched set with the chain.

What is the operating temperature range?

The POM base is rated for -40 °C to +90 °C. The rubber top surface is limited to +80 °C continuous because the rubber compound will start to harden above that temperature. For higher temperature applications Raydafon can supply alternative top surface materials.

Can Raydafon supply the chain cut to length or as a continuous run?

Yes. The chain is supplied in standard length runs, or cut to length on request. For a cut-to-length order, send the required total chain length in metres or the number of links and Raydafon will confirm the correct chain length and the number of pins required.

What are the common applications and industries?

Common applications are glass bottle and can conveying, food filling lines, pharmaceutical packing, consumer goods handling, papermaking and carton making. The chain is designed for beverage, food, pharmaceutical and packaging industries.

What is the typical lead time and MOQ?

Standard configurations ship in 15 to 30 days. Custom widths and cut-to-length orders are confirmed with the quotation. MOQ depends on the specific configuration and is confirmed when the specification is fixed. Raydafon supplies OEM, project and factory-direct quantities from the Hangzhou factory.
